e-Shram Card Online Registration: The Government of India has launched a groundbreaking new system for unorganized workers, the e-Shram Portal. About 360 million workers in the unorganized sector will benefit through this portal. Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav has announced that every worker who registers for the portal will be given an e-Shram Card. With the help of this card, registered workers will be able to avail various social security schemes and government benefits at any time anywhere in the country. In addition, if a worker dies in an accident, he will get an accident insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh under PMSBY. Eligibility for e-Shram Card Application:
- The age of unorganized workers should be between 18 to 59 years (30-08-1981 to 29-08-2005)
- Registered workers should not be income tax payers
- Registrar should not be a member of UPFO / ESIC / NPS
- The registrant must be of the unorganized working class
Who or what cannot register this e-Labor Card Portal:
Those who are employed or public sector employees, who receive other benefits including regular salary, pension, gratuity, leave and social security will not be able to register on this portal.
E-Labor Card The following documents are required to register this portal:
1. Aadhaar number
2. Mobile number connected with Aadhaar
3. Bank account number and IFSC code.
Registration process on e-Shram portal:
Open the browser and type eshram.gov.in in Google or click here.
- e-shram's web site will open there click on REGISTER on e-Shram button
A new page will open to see the page like the sample below-
In the Self Registration of this page, you have to enter the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
- Then type the captcha code in the sidebar
- Select Yes or No in EPFO or ESIC
- Then click on Send OTP
- The next page will show all the details of your card like name, father's name, address, date of birth, picture etc.
- Then click on Continue To Enter Others Details below
- On the next page, select your mobile number, Gmail ID, father's name, married or not, blood group, etc. and click Save & Continue.
- Then select the name of the state, type your district name, address, village, pin code, etc., then click Save & Continue below.
- Then click on Save & Continue by entering the educational qualification of the worker, monthly income, what kind of work the worker does, etc.
- Then the worker has to type his own bank account number, name, bank name, IFSC Code, branch name etc.
- You can then preview all the information once, if everything seems to be done correctly, then click on T&C below and click submit, you will get the e-Shram Card card and you will see the 12 digit UAN number on the card.
What to do if you do not have Aadhaar linked mobile number?
** Unorganized workers can register for free if they do not have Aadhaar linked mobile number. According to eshram.gov.in, go to the nearest CSC and register through biometric authentication such as fingerprint, eyeball, authentication process.
What is UAN?
Universal account number is a 12 digit number which is given to each unorganized worker after registration of e-labor portal. The UAN number is a permanent number i.e. once registered it will remain unchanged for life.
Is there any income limit for e-labor registration?
There is no fixed income limit for registration here as unorganized workers but should not be an income tax payer.
Are there any eligibility criteria for e-labor registration?
Any unorganized worker between the ages of 18 and 59 is eligible to register on the e-labor portal
What are the benefits to an unorganized worker when he registers on this portal?
The central government has created this portal which is linked to Aadhaar number There will be a central database of unorganized workers. Workers will get an accident insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh under PMSBY. In future, all social security benefits for unorganized workers will be provided through this portal. This database will be used to provide necessary assistance to all these unorganized workers in situations like emergencies and epidemics.

E-labor portal registration is completely free. Workers do not have to pay any charges to any registrar

No, hassle-free facility under social security scheme. The bank details are being taken by the state government to give any benefit directly to the worker's account
What is the validity of e-labor card?
This is a permanent card and valid for life
Do I need to renew this UAN card?
Unorganized workers do not need to renew their e-labor card regularly to update their details like mobile number, current address, etc. so that their account is active they need to update their account at least once a year
How can workers update this portal and their details?
Employees can update their details by visiting the e-Labor official portal or through CSC
What details can workers update on e-labor?
Once registered, an employee can update his / her special details like mobile number, current address, occupation and educational qualifications, skill type, family details, etc. on the e-labor portal or at the nearest CSC.
