How to get Aadhaar number if you forget Aadhaar number

Aadhaar is one of the documents that an Indian citizen has. Aadhaar seems to be becoming important in all cases at present. Last year, the Supreme Court ruled that Aadhaar was mandatory in several places, but consumers still do not get the opportunity to subsidize any social project other than Aadhaar.

But many times we inadvertently lose such an important Aadhaar card. Again, remembering the long and wide 12 digit Aadhaar number is not always possible for everyone. If that happens, the Aadhaar card is lost and the Aadhaar number is not remembered! What to do then?

Listening to the question, many may have sat down to think. But there is no reason to worry so much. This is because UIDAI, the central Aadhaar agency, has arranged for its solution. Getting back the Aadhaar number and Aadhaar card is a little bit of work.

To get back the Aadhaar number you first need to go to the official website of UIDAI https://uidai.gov.in/. There you will first see an option called ‘Get Aadhaar’. Which includes several different options. You will need to choose between the 'Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID / UID' option from the different options in 'Get Aadhaar'. Or you can click directly on the link https://resident.uidai.gov.in/lost-uideid.

Then you will reach the next stage. Where you have to choose between ‘Aadhaar No (UID)’ and ‘Enrollment ID (EID)’. The easiest way to get Aadhaar number back is to select ‘Aadhaar No (UID)’. But in some cases if it does not work, you have to choose the second option.

Then give exactly what is being asked of you. You will be asked to say your name, your mobile number or email ID and the captcha code given on the site. If these are given correctly, you need to click on the ‘Send OTP’ option. Properly processed, you will get an OTP, which will have to be given at the specified place. Then you will see that your Aadhaar number has reached you in the form of SMS on your mobile.

Similarly, if you select the ‘Enrollment ID (EID)’ option, you will get the enrollment number in the form of SMS on your mobile. Then you can get the Aadhaar number by talking to the Aadhaar Contact Center 1948 with that enrollment number.

After getting the Aadhaar number, you can go to the reprint option on the official website of Aadhaar and get back the lost Aadhaar card.

However, it is important to remember that in order to get Aadhaar number and Aadhaar card back online, you must always have a mobile number or email ID attached to your Aadhaar.
