In 1719 in the Great Plains, Naru, a youthful Comanche lady prepared as a healer, fantasies about turning into an extraordinary tracker like her sibling, Taabe. While following deer with her canine, Sarii, she observes the lights of an outsider Predator's rocket, which she deciphers as a Thunderbird, accepting it as a sign to show what her can do. At the town, one of their clan's trackers has been taken by a mountain lion.
